A Midweek Message After the Fourth Sunday in Lent
March 25, 2020
Dear Members of Risen Christ Lutheran Church,
Grace, mercy, and peace be to you from God our Father, Christ his only-begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
Attached is the Midweek Family Devotion for Lent 4, as well as an audio of the sermon and devotional music plus the hymns recorded by Molly. I cannot thank Molly enough for providing this beautiful music for us, which is so comforting during this difficult time. I thank Cathy Caufield for getting the bulletins/devotions ready, and Karl Heine for putting this information and devotions on the church website and Facebook. I thank all of you, our dear members, for your patience and love for each other. We will be back together soon.
Some of you have asked when we may be together and in what format, small groups perhaps? As I indicated before, I think we should get through the end of March, the 15 day period to slow the spread. Then we can reevaluate where things are at. I continue to monitor the situation with the virus and I am encouraged by what I am hearing. The situation is still bad, but there is new and helpful information each day that indicates we will likely be back together at church soon. The president said today that he would like to see our churches packed on Easter Sunday, and that was a welcome message. However, we in Colorado have our governor’s order that people cannot meet in groups of more than 10, which is currently in place until April 17th. Unless the governor rescinds that order, it looks like we will not be able to be all together on Easter Sunday. I am thinking about different options, a strong possibility of offering a shortened service several times throughout the day on Sunday or perhaps at other times. But, let’s get past March and look at the possibilities at the beginning of April. Until we do start having services in some form, we will continue with what we are doing now … but that will be changing soon.
Be of good cheer and keep looking to Christ in thankfulness for all he has and continues to give to us for both this body and life and for eternal life. Let me know if you need anything. You remain in my daily prayers.
All my love in Christ,
Pastor Macina
